At the urging of Eckerd Drug Stores President Jack Eckerd, the Florida Legislature and Governor Bob Graham enacted a bill that authorized PRIDE to assume management and operational control of the state’s prison industry programs. A Board of Directors, which is appointed by the Governor, provides continuing fiduciary oversight for the State of Florida.
