Recycling

Many government agencies, and the public in general, are demanding products with a higher recycled material content, and corrugated containers are no exception. Presently, almost two thirds of all container board used in the U.S. has a recycled component. The recovery rate has increased from 46% in 1985 to 62% in 1996. PRIDE receives its paperboard from a variety of manufacturers and our finished products have an average recycled content of 50-50%.

If your specifications demand a higher recycled material percentage, please call us and we will make every effort to assure compliance.

The selection of joint type (stitch vs. glue) may impact the practical recycle ability of the container. If your organization has implemented its own program, the recycler may not accept boxes with stitched joints. While inherently stronger, the staples may have to be removed to insure compliance. The glues used for box joints are water-based and are therefore recyclable.

For further information regarding recycling of corrugated containers and materials, contact the Corrugated Packaging Council at (800) 879-9777.
